Mohamed Melouk, Ph.D

Dr. Mohamed Melouk is holder of a Doctorate Degree in Linguistics from Lancaster University (1989) and a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from the State University, Mons, Belgium (1981). He was also a Fulbright scholar in New York University in 1993. Dr. Melouk’s career has been so rich, both as a lecturer and as a researcher. As a lecturer, he taught a number of courses at the BA and Master’s levels at the Faculty of Education, Mohamed V University, Rabat. Some of the courses he taught include Discourse Analysis, Curriculum Development, Sociolinguistics, Pragmatics and Research methods. Aside from teaching, Dr. Melouk supervised a number of Doctoral and Master’s theses in applied linguistics and TEFL pedagogy. Thanks to his involvement in teaching and research activities with both local and international higher education institutions, Dr. Melouk has garnered expertise in such areas as pedagogy, curriculum design, testing and evaluation. As a researcher, he has published a number of articles in national and international journals. He also served as an active member in a number of study groups and committees when the implementation of the educational reform started in Morocco. During this period, he was involved in, and contributed to many evaluative reports submitted to the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Higher Council of Education. His outreach activities include his participation in many research and training activities with international organisations (USAID, UNESCO, UNDP, and the Council of Europe). Although most of Dr. Melouk’s publications were in English, a reasonable number of his writings are in Arabic and French.
